Boat

A bit of history

Since 1964, the Rochelais Dufour company has been building beautiful monohull sailboats under the direction of Michel Dufour.

The Dufour 385 Grand Large, or Dufour 385 GL to his friends, is a 39′ sailboat, 11.72m long and 3.93m wide. It was presented to the public in 2003 by Dufour, which then belonged to Cantiere del Pardo, with the aim of showing a stylistic twist to mark an evolution of the brand. The Italian owner of the shipyard then recasted all Dufour models operating under the GibSea name.

The first on the list, the Dufour 385, had the honor of being designed by a Roman architect: Umberto Felci. The latter decided not to revolutionize the 39′, but to make it evolve into a more Mediterranean style while maintaining its efficient cruising DNA.

The boat has two steering wheels, a 30 hp Volvo Penta diesel engine and a sail area of almost 68 m2 (semi-underground mainsail and overlapping genoa). Spacious, comfortable and well finished, efficient under sail, more than 500 Dufour 385s came from the Dufour chains in La Rochelle.
What a great success!
